Thought-Provoking Thursday 11/18/2021

Hey Fans, Friends, and Fellows,

Setting can be a powerful thing in your story. Whether it is an entire alternate universe, a fictional town where everyone knows everyone’s name, or just the house of your protagonist, the places in your story can do so to show who your character is. The way your character observes and interacts with their world shapes them. I encourage you to do a deep dive into your most important setting(s). Not every detail will make it into your book nor should it. Your scenes should explore details that are relevant to what’s happening in the moment, but that doesn’t mean that you as an author don’t know that there is a lizard hiding from your protagonist’s cat in the air vent.

Writing Prompt: Write a piece that focuses on the fine details of a setting.
