Fine Art Friday 7/23/2021

Hey Fans, Friends, and Fellows,

Last week I mentioned in the caption of the art for Moon Witch Taken that I’m planning a rebrand. I took one of my favorite photos and created a picture in the style of my art from last week.

This is the original photo for reference.
I took a few liberties with the color of the shoes and sunglasses, but overall I think it turned out well.

Fine Art Friday 7/9/2021

Hey Fans, Friends, and Fellows,

This week I made something both pretty and practical. I am very bad about not setting my wallet and keys down in the same place when I take them out of my pockets. To rectify this bad habit, I decided to make a place that they could call their own!

Paraphrased from a quote from Nichole McElhaney. It was originally “And the moon said to me – my darling daughter, you do not have to be whole in order to shine.” but that wouldn’t all fit as pretty as I’d like.
This quote was also paraphrased because I was running out space. It was “be the moon and inspire people, even when you’re far from full” from K. Tolnoe’s book The Moon, before I had to edit it on the fly.

Fine Art Friday Week Twenty-One

Hey Fans, Friends, and Fellows,

I liked the art I made for Dramamancer enough to try making something in the same style for Shadow-Blessed. I’m not completely satisfied with it yet, but I like the concept. I’m working with. It’s also worth mentioning that Amazon announced that the Kindle Vella platform will be launching in July. Not an exact launch date but that’s better than the vague “coming soon” that they left us with up until now. I’m pretty excited for Dramamancer to go online.

Fine Art Friday Week Fifteen

Amazon is going to launch a new publishing platform called Kindle Vella. The stories posted on there will be serialized shorts from 600 to 5,000 words per episode. My stories for Two Page Tuesdays won’t be eligible for the new platform as one of the rules is that you can’t post episodes freely available from another site. I don’t want to make people start paying for Shadow-Blessed. It started free, and that’s the way it’s gonna stay. Still, I’m excited to try out the Kindle Vella. If you’re up to all caught up on Shadow-Blessed, you may remember Storm Ryder, the actor who revealed his magic on camera. Before I knew it, I started thinking about stories revolving around him. Kindle Vella feels like a great opportunity to explore his character and the lighter side of magic. Moon Witch Taken, Moon Witch Lost, and Shadow-Blessed all explore higher-stake situations than I want to explore in this new series, Dramamancer. Long story short, I’ve designed the “cover” art for Dramamancer this week. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
