Welcome to My Patreon!

I have a few different goals in mind for this page. The biggest one is to build a community of readers who, like me, crave more diverse stories. I’ve loved the Urban Fantasy genre since I picked up my first Simon R. Green book. The more I read these modern fantasy worlds, the more I wanted to shape my own version that explores experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. We are more than the coming out stories and tragedies that mainstream media tends to focus on.

Past forming a community and sharing my writing, I hope that this page will bring me the financial assistance I need to commit more of my time to create new stories and art. I know that it will take time and effort, but I want to make it to the point where I can fully support myself with these creations. I’m ready to put in the work to make it happen. I don’t want to stop there, though. I’ve created a company, Magill Publishing, and an imprint, Heart Shades Press, that I hope will allow me to help lift other LGBTQ+ voices. That goal is further out than I want it to be, but I believe it is possible. If you decide to become one of my patrons, I will share every step of the way with you.

Thought-Provoking Thursday Week Seventeen

So last night was a lunar eclipse! I’m sure it is no surprise that I love all things moon-related given my books, Moon Witch Taken and Moon Witch Lost. Fiction, poetry, and nonfiction all give the moon special relevance. Writers of every sort have been using the moon in their stories as more than a big rock in the sky. Rare events like last night’s eclipse tend to take on even more meaning in our writing.

Writing Prompt: Write a piece featuring associations you have with the moon. Are any of them unique to you as a person?
